We are members of the ">Department of Scientific Computing and focus on topics at the intersection of applied statistics, business-oriented method research, and systems engineering.
Basic research
- statistical data management and information systems
- statistical computing in the domain of official statistics, e.g., development of a statistical table derivation calculus
- statistical metadata methodology
Applied research
- statistical problem solving based on
- advanced data analytical methods
- tools including innovative method combinations
- data mining approaches
- data warehousing techniques
Experimental development efforts cover design, prototyping, and implementation of computing tools (statistical algorithms, databases, information systems) for decision support in particular and statistical information management in general.
The DAC group considers project-centered applied research and publishing-targeted research as equal-ranking objectives.
Teaching
Because of the broad interface of research topics to academic teaching in statistics and business computing, the DAC working group is particularly open to engaged students with a background in statistics, business informatics, computer science, or applied mathematics, for participation in national and international projects. We offer diploma and doctoral thesis supervision in a very stimulating, cross-disciplinary and dynamically evolving scientific area.
Cooperation
The DAC group cooperates with other researchers and teams in a number of national and international projects.
